Philosophy of wantlessness is utopia, while materialism is chimera.

Wantlessness refers to desirelessness or not having any particular desire. Desire is directly connected with the happiness of human beings. Humans are instinctually embedded with more or fewer desires. Therefore, Generally, wantlessness is hard to achieve. Materialism depicts the desire to have material possessions. Usually, having material possessions is linked to the happiness, dignity, and self-esteem of an individual. Both terms 'Wantlessness' and 'Materialism' are antagonistic. On one hand, Wantlessness elicited desireless. On the other hand, Materialism embraced lots of desires. An individual should have made an equilibrium between both extremes of life. But how? Let's try to figure it out in this blog.

In the context of religion, Wantlessness is propagated as a philosophy of desirelessness. This means if you don't have the desire then you're happy. here desire can be any form such as a craving for power, position, accumulation of wealth, and so forth. Desirelessness indicates happiness and no suffering. For instance, Buddhism is based on the philosophy of wantlessness or less desire, In Jainism, It has six foundational stones one of which is an 'aparigraha'.I.e. Non-possessiveness, and non-greediness. If you're practicing wantlessness then maybe you're happy as per vows given by Buddhist and Jain scriptures.

On one hand, Wantlessness has so many benefits and might be led to happiness. If we put wantlessness in the present context then we might find gracious results such as We may not seeing a Russia-Ukraine war, no trade wars, Cybercrime, and a crime rate are negligible. Furthermore, we may not face untrammeled climate change due to anthropogenic factors as resultant we may not face any protests and environmental moments. there might be peace and a prosperous world.

On the other hand, Wantlessness seems to be obstructionist to the development facets of the country. It might be resultant of underdevelopment. If we adopt then we might face various scenarios such as no state development as a result underdeveloped healthcare sector, still, we're dying from cancer and small types of diseases due to undeveloped health sectors, no societal development, and still, we're primitive once.

This picture depicts primitive life on Earth.

Wantlessness is a rhetoric, idealist, and unpragmatic theory. Hitherto, we saw only one side of the coin. Now, we will see the flip side of the coin.

"Earth provides enough to satisfy everymen's needs but not every man's greed."
                                                                                                                     -Mahatma Gandhi.

Materialism denotes the accumulation of wealth as much as possible. The desire of having more and more wealth. Additionally, It encourages a craving for power, position, and rank. Here, Happiness implies the wealthiest, and most powerful as such. You've plenty of luxuries that decide your level of happiness. Quest for happiness ruined the social life of an individual as resultant they are trapped in a vicious cycle of greed.

One side of the coin depicts that Materialism adversely impacted various facets of human life such as social, economic, political, and environmental. In the Individual sphere, materialism created alienated man. Every aspect of society is judged on material facets. It can create political instability. Furthermore, behind environmental disruption main objective is the material benefits.

Sometimes, Religious leaders promote the material aspect and itself entrenched in material possessions. When we see changes in religion, we might come across the corporatization of religion. for instance: 'XYZ' sects opening shops and restaurants in the name of the gospel of health and well-being.

Hitherto, We have seen both sides of the coin. One favors more inner aspects of an individual. And others more outer aspects of an individual's life. In pragmatic life lies which side of the coin? Now we will see.

The concept of Minimalism originated in Japan. It teaches a balanced way of life. It talks about minimal possessions of material things which are necessary for living life. It is based on neither having too much-accumulated wealth, or property nor desirelessness. Mostly believes that it is a healthy way of life.
That's why wantlessness is a utopia and impossible to achieve in the real life of people. Materialism is a chimera and impacts the spiritual, social, and political life of an individual.
